Episode 042 – Mowgli, Baloo, & the Screening Room Debate!

Look for the bare necessities

The simple bare necessities
Forget about your worries and your strife
I mean the bare necessities
Old mother nature’s recipes
That bring the bare necessities of life!

We had the opportunity and privilege to check out the latest of Disney’s live-action film adaptations, this time in Jon Favreau’s The Jungle Book. We couldn’t weigh in on this one alone, however, so we are proud to welcome the host of the Ten Bucks a Throw Podcast, Bryan Loy, to help us review one of the year’s best films thusfar.

In our Epic Previews segment tonight, we’ll be reviewing the trailer for Nicholas Winding Refn’s newest film, Neon Demon. It was a pretty slow week for trailers leading up to the recording, so be sure to check back next week for more great new trailers!

The theater industry is something near and dear to us here on the Epic Film Guys podcast, since we spend so much time in theaters watching movies. The experience is nigh unreplaceable, as far as we are concerned. Yet, with announcements of late that a theater chain even considered (and quickly rescinded) texting in the theaters and, as Sean Parker’s Screening Room gains supporters and detractors, is the theatrical experience on its way out? We’ll discuss the controvery surrounding Parker’s latest venture and what impact it might have on the industry.
